Dr Emmanuel Imafidon is a Senior Fellow at the Lagos Business School where he facilitates learning in the Organisational Behaviour & Human Resource Management Department; his teaching areas are Human Resource Management and Negotiations.
Prior to joining Lagos Business School, he had worked for over three decades in the education, manufacturing, and energy sectors in Nigeria. He was the Director of Human Resources & Medical in Chevron Nigeria Limited for seven years and subsequently, the Director of Business Services for nine years in the same company, leading up to his disengagement in 2018. Prior to these two roles, he had worked in different managerial capacities in the HR function of Chevron Nigeria Limited as well as the Nigerian Tobacco Company.
His key enduring experiences include the development, deployment and maturing of efficient shared service organizations, development & operationalization of HR strategy in multi-country organizations, management of human performance issues in multicultural settings, initiation/stewardship of extensive re-organizations (including a major M&A effort), enhancements of complex work systems/processes and major collective bargaining negotiations over several years.
Emmanuel has a Bachelors in Education (Political Science) from the University of Benin, an M. Sc. in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the University of Lagos, an MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona and a PhD in International Business Management from the International School of Management, Paris. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program (AMP), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria and member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
