It was a reunion of erudite minds who once attended Lagos Business School for management or business-related courses at today’s LBSAA Alumni Day.

The much-anticipated event, hosted by alumni of the Chief Executive Programme (CEP 21) and tagged ‘Corporate Excellence and Sustainable Development’ was not only attended by captains of industry but also renowned economic experts such as Mr Oscar Onyema, CEO, Nigerian Stock Exchange; Dr Ayo Teriba, CEO, Economic Associates and Mr Bismarck Rewane, CEO, Financial Derivatives Company.

Indeed, the forum provided the School’s distinguished alumni a refresher on the Nigerian economy, with projections for 2015 as well as interactive panel discussions.

Honorary President, Business Council for Africa, Mr Arnold Akpe, was on hand to speak on ‘The Challenges of Corporate Excellence and Corporate Governance in Africa.’ He was joined by Dr Martin Khor, Executive Director, the South Centre, who spoke on the event’s main theme: ‘Corporate Excellence and Sustainable Development.’

In his address, Khor advocated a reappraisal of the nation’s trade agreements by government functionaries and industry moguls present at the event. While admitting that a free market economy had come to stay, he advised that this should conform with developing nations’ growth agenda which is very often consigned to the backseat to pander to the interests of the developed world.

In his vote of thanks, Charles Akindayomi, President of the host class, CEP 21, commented on the impressive turnout and quality of the presentations made. He did not fail to commend Dr Enase Okonedo, Dean, and Mr Henry Onukwuba, Director, Alumni Relations, for their contributions to the 19th Alumni Day, recognised as one of the most impactful in the history of the event.
