Overview

In light of the recent socio-economic challenges facing Nigeria, businesses and business leaders in different sectors of the economy have been put under pressure to deliver shareholder value, business sustainability, and drive organisational growth. The resultant effect of this is that financial targets were missed and some organisations were unable to pay up debt leading to more difficult times.

It has become necessary that business leaders reappraise parameters put in place to define business success. This seminar is designed to enable business leaders have a better perspective and expectation of the economy in 2025 and empower them to position their organisations for business growth and sustainability.

Faculty

Dr. Okechukwu Amah

Dr Okechukwu Amah facilitates sessions in Management Communication, Human Resources, Leadership and Human Behaviour in Organisations at Lagos Business School. He is also the Research Director at Lagos Business School.

Earlier, he was a part-time lecturer at the Lagos State University, where he taught MBA students Organisational Behaviour, Organisational Theory, Business Policy and Management. He has also facilitated sessions in customised programmes for NLNG, and actively reviews articles for the annual meetings of the American Academy of Management and Southern Management Association.

Dr Amah obtained his first degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Ibadan, MBA and PhD from the University of Benin. He started his career as a petroleum engineer with Texaco Overseas Nigeria Limited, where he held such key positions as District Petroleum Engineer and Assistant District Manager in charge of drilling, production and support services. He assumed the position of Production Manager before the company merged with Chevron Nigeria Limited. He thereafter joined Chevron Nigeria Limited, and held other pivotal positions in the organisation before moving on.

 

Prof Olawale Ajai

Olawale Ajai is a Professor of Legal, Social and Political Environment of Business and Head, the Department of Strategy at the Lagos Business School. He holds a PhD in law and facilitates sessions on business law, financial inclusion/digital economy and law, non-market strategy, microeconomics of competitiveness, and public policy/administration. His research focuses on financial inclusion/digital technology laws and policies, business laws, corporate sustainability, corporate governance, and non-market strategy. He is a member of the Environmental Law Commission of the IUCN, Bonn, Germany. He is the Public Policy Lead for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded ‘Sustainable Business Models for Delivering Digital Financial Services to Lower Unbanked Citizens of Nigeria’ Research Project at Lagos Business School, 2015 to date.

He was formerly Group Company Secretary/Legal Adviser; Executive Director, Human Capital, and Executive Director, Marketing and Strategy at Dunlop Nigeria Plc. He was also at various times, Senior Research Fellow, Associate Research Professor, and Ag. Director of Research at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. He was a member of the Council/ Chair of the Professional Development Committee of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Managers of Nigeria for ten years. He has drafted major national legislation on environmental and natural resources law.
