Sensitization on the ills of irregular migration is imperative and needs to be done continuously. It is important to sensitize leaders in the private sector on how to use their office to reduce stigma on returned migrants, ensure the returnees are reintegrated properly in society through businesses and jobs, and contribute to raising awareness on these matters. Also, as aspiring leaders we need to be aware of the dangers of irregular migration. This helps us make better and informed choices on any future migratory plans as well as points us to the right channels of migration.

Saskia Kok: Saskia is the Head, Migrant Protection and Assistance at IOM UN Migration. IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 174 member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Omotola Fawunmi: Omotola is an International development consultant working at the intersection of public, private, academic and social sectors to accelerate profit for Africa and Africans. Omotola works to end modern slavery through The Rebirth Hub. It Rescues, Returns, Rehabilitates and Reintegrates, victims of modern slavery across Africa from the Middle East. Since 2019 they have safely returned 451 ladies from Lebanon, Oman, Cote d’Ivoire, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Iraq, Gambia, Kenya. The Rebirth Hub has successfully collaborated with various organizations including the Ooni of Ife, Queen Moremi Ajasoro foundation, make me Elegant foundation, Entrepreneurial Empowerment Initiatives, IOM, Healthy Minds Foundation amongst others to Rehabilitate and Reintegrate Victims.
