Assertiveness at Work
Overview:
Environmental elements shape the individual to "conform to the environment". Unfortunately, the effects of conformity are not always positive. Childhood messages, institutions and so on, sometimes shape people to become non-assertive (they keep quiet when they should speak up, mask in ambiguous language what they really want to say and so on) or aggressive (they talk down, shout and fight) even when it is absolutely unnecessary.
This seminar provides a practical approach to being assertive - building self-esteem, managing firmness and compromise as well as handling tough situations with composure and confidence.
Programme:
- Self-assessment and self-strengthening
- The eight-step ladder to building assertiveness
- Sources of aggression and non-assertion
- Growing and managing self-esteem
- Getting others to listen to you
- Coping with difficult people and situations
For:
Senior executives, team leaders, function and project heads and supervisors who want to develop assertiveness and exert greater influence. It will also be beneficial for specialists (in engineering, IT, accounting, auditing, and so on) who are making a transition to management.
Date: 2-3 October 2012
Fee: N 140,000
